Within the event „Long live the art! 65 years ars viva. Artists and sponsors in conversation“ on the 27th of April 2017 at the theatre in the Palais (Berlin) the Cultural Group of the German Economy announced the ars viva price winners. In 2017 the price was given to Anna-Sophie Berger (*1989), Oscar Enberg (*1988) und Zac Langdon-Pole (*1988).

Prize winners are young, in Germany living, artists whose work is characterized by high artistic quality with trend-setting potentials. The price is attached to two exhibitions in famous art institutions in Europe as well as the artist’s residency at Fogo Island (Canada). Additional to the price money of 5.000 Euro an artist edition is being created and a bilingual catalogue is being published. This year’s jury, chaired by Ulrich Sauerwein, are members of the Visual Arts board as well as Mathilda Legemah and Dr. Barbara Jenner (Cultural Group of the German Economy), the curators Chris Fitzpatrick (Kunstverein München), Martin Germann (S.M.A.K. Gent), Zita Cobb (Shorefast Foundation), Nicolaus Schafhausen (Kunsthalle Wien, Shorefast Foundation) and Krist Gruijthuijsen (KW Institute for Contemporary Art, Berlin) as consultants. Out of 57 suggested artists the jury selected 14 finalists, that presented their work in their studios and in the KW Institute for Contemporary Art in Berlin.
